Carl G. Doney papers, 1898-1918.

Articles, newspaper clippings, and letters relating to Carl G. Doney's ministry at King Avenue Methodist Episcopal Church in Columbus, Ohio, his popularity in Ohio as an orator, and his tenure as president of West Virginia Wesleyan College in Buckhannon, W. Va. and of Willamette University in Salem, Oregon. Correspondence with the two colleges concerns administrative matters and the effect of the World War I on the students. As a report to Willamette Board of Trustees, Doney wrote a letter describing his experiences while on leave from the university, serving with the Y.M.C.A. in Europe during World War I. The items were removed from Doney's diary, 1914-1918, cataloged as VOL 381-384 in the collections of the Ohio Historical Society.
